The Rebound also by Kwame Alexander
This is the second book in the Crossover series. This is the story of Josh and Jordan's dad when he was a kid. Charlie Bell’s Dad died because of a heart attack and his Mom sent him to stay with his grandparents for the summer. When he is there he meets a cousin named Roxie who goes to the Boys & Girls Club and plays basketball. Charlie had never played basketball before. Playing with Roxie was the first time he had played. At the end of the book Skinny, Charlie’s friend, comes to where his grandparents live and Skinny’s cousin Ivan and Skinny go to a skating rink with Charlie. Ivan wants Charlie to hold his backpack that has drugs in it. The police find the backpack with Charlie and Skinny and they went to the court. In the end Charlie had to go home early.
I like this book because this is the second book in the Crossover series and it is written in poetry just like the first book. It's still about basketball, and we get to know more about Josh and Jordan’s dad when he was a kid. I think the lesson in this book is if something hard happens don't let it push you down and make you miserable for a long time.
I would recommend this book for people who have read the Crossover, and like basketball and poetry.
