The Penderwicks in Spring

In this book we fast forward about 5 years so Rosalind is in collage, Skye, and Jane and in high school, Batty is in fifth grade, Ben is in second grade, and Lydia is in preschool at Goldie's.

Batty's birthday is coming up and she is secretly planning the grand 11th birthday concert. She just found out that she has a very good singing voice. Batty is trying to earn money to get singing lessons, so she starts dog walking a few neighbor dogs. At Skye's birthday the week before, Batty learns a secret about herself and then she starts running away and a fog starts settling over her and she does not feel good.  She wants to sleep all day, and does not want to go to school. All of her family is worried about her. With the help of her family, her secret slips away and Batty gets back to herself.

I did not like that Batty was so upset and that it never occurred to Batty to tell her mom Iantha about her secret because Iantha never knew Battys birth mom. But I liked  that at the end things get straightened out and Batty had a birthday party. I would say the other Penderwick books are a little better because this one a little more hard stuff but overall I think it would be rated four stars

  1. I liked your review, Harper. Now I am interested in what made Batty so upset! Guess I'll have to read the book to find out...!
