Image
In this book we fast forward about 5 years so Rosalind is in collage, Skye, and Jane and in high school, Batty is in fifth grade, Ben is in second grade, and Lydia is in preschool at Goldie's.   Batty's birthday is coming up and she is secretly planning the grand 11th birthday concert. She just found out that she has a very good singing voice. Batty is trying to earn money to get singing lessons, so she starts dog walking a few neighbor dogs. At Skye's birthday the week before, Batty learns a secret about herself and then she starts running away and a fog starts settling over her and she does not feel good.  She wants to sleep all day, and does not want to go to school. All of her family is worried about her. With the help of her family, her secret slips away and Batty gets back to herself. Restart - by Gordon Korman

Image
Restart, By Gordon Korman Main character: Chase Ambrose Summary: Chase does not remember his life before he fell off the roof of his house and hit his head. The first chapter of this book takes place in the hospital. Most of the other parts of this book take place either at a senior citizen home or his school.  This book is all about how Chase has changed since his fall. He used to be the school bully, but now he is a really nice kid with new friends and he does not bully anyone anymore.  Trouble still finds him though because of his old bully friends. At the end of the book, something happens and Chase remembers one of his only memories that happened before he fell.   I really liked this book because it really shows that if you were bad before you can change that. This book also has a lesson that even if it is really late you can still take back your actions that were on purpose and were not smart and make them ok.

Because of Winn-Dixie

Image
Because of Winn Dixie By Kate DiCamillo Setting: Naomi Florida Main character India Opal, Winn-Dixie Summary: India Opal went to the grocery store to pick up some food for her dad. She found this dog inside the grocery store. The dog was eating all the food and he smiled at her and she took him home to her dad and then her dad let her keep him.  This book is about all the tales this girl has because of the dog. Additionally, India Opal moved into a new town so this book also shared about all the friends she met because of Winn-Dixie. I think that's how it got its title but that question is still puzzling me. I would recommend this book first grade through fifth grade. I would say this is a really good book to read with someone and it is a really kind book that shares no matter how young you are and how old you are you can always make friends with people and in the end even if you don't like someone you'll probably end up liking them.
