The Penderwicks

 Starting with this review I will do the first three Penderwick books. There are 5.


Title: The Penderwicks

Author: Jeanne Birdsall


Characters: Rosalind, Skye, Jane, Batty, Mr. Penderwick, Jeffrey

Setting: Arundel


Summary: The four Penderwick sisters take a trip with their dad to a place called Arundel, an estate with beautiful gardens and a cozy guest house. Along the way they meet a very nice boy named Jeffrey and have a lot of adventures, like playing soccer in the fancy gardens and Batty encountering a bull. Also their dog Hound tags along and causes some trouble.


If you have read any other Penderwick books or already have read this one I would like to know how you like it. 


The Penderwicks is now my second favorite series of books after The School Story by Andrew Clemets. I like this book because it is so life-like and it is fun getting to know the characters.


This book is a little longer and harder  than some of the other ones I reviewed so I like reading it at bedtime with my mom.

  This is not a book in the Penderwick series. My mom and I are in number 4 still. The Losers Club by Andrew Clements Main characters:  Alec, Nina, Kent Setting: Bald Ridge Elementary Summary: When Alec has to go to extended day program after school all he wants to do is read but unfortunately there is no option for that. YET. Alec wants to start his own club where he can just read but he needs to find someone else who wants to start the club. He names his club the losers club because he just wants his club to only be him and someone else. By the end of the book it is the biggest club in the  extended day program and even bigger than the active games area. At the end he has to think of some way to present to all the families at his school for back to school night. The way he presents , I think is really cool.
